A parallel from the Book of Job: God preserves special “storehouses of the hail” for special times of “battle and war.” Hail in the biblical sense refers not only to ice hail but also to meteor showers (“stone hail”). “Storehouses of the snow” and “storehouses of the hail” also refer to cosmic objects (asteroids, meteors, comets, etc.) that can fall to Earth.

²² Have you entered the storehouses of the snow, or have you seen the storehouses of the hail, ²³ which I have reserved against the time of trouble, against the day of battle and war?
