2. Leaving Poole (Fragment)
by Babenko, Olivia“All aboard! Final call for the train to Birmingham!” shouted a man. We all ran up to the man.
Lucy, Laurie, and Lottie all dropped something with a heavy plop. I felt the things as we passed. It was our luggage, and maybe I should have been worried, but I just shrugged and walked up the stairs. I was too tired to care.
Everyone collapsed into their chairs. I had been on a train before, so I wasn’t surprised. Taking deep breaths, I just listened to the train tracks clack as we slowly started to leave behind the town and the loud sirens.
“Okay so we have me, Olivia, Lucy, Laurie and Elsie all here? Great you guys can—” I started to zone out. I couldn’t even hear Lottie anymore. I was too tired. I slowly felt my eyelids droop shut as I left my old life behind, as I left my humble little town in Poole and headed north of England for a city called Birmingham.
